We are fully aware of the social implications imposed upon us by the global marine transport business, and we work towards providing safe, high quality services. We also have made it our management policy to contribute to the development of a global society through our business as a member of society, following laws and managing our company according to ethical standards. In order to achieve this, the Hachiuma Steamship’s Corporate Action Charter was created. The seven items that make up this Charter are listed below.
- Our Social Mission:We acknowledge that we must provide safe and superior service as a global transport company, satisfying our customers’ expectations and gaining trust. Through lawful and fair corporate management, we will secure reasonable profits and contribute to the development of society while also rewarding stockholders.
- Safe Marine Transport and Environmental Preservation:We understand that providing safe marine transport is of the utmost important, and we strive to realize and strengthen our safety initiatives based on global safety standards. We also work to improve technologies related to safe transport. We recognize that the ocean is a valuable global asset. We strive to prevent ocean pollution, and we work towards preserving a healthy global environment.
- Strengthening our Safety Systems:We strive to secure and maintain our safety systems in order to prevent a shutdown or abuse of global marine transport due to illegal activities. We also strive to prevent unauthorized access to and leaks of the information that our company has in its possession.
- Observing Laws and Ordinances:We acknowledge that we are a member of society, and as a member of society, we will observe all laws in order to be just and fair, and our corporate activities will not violate positive social ethics.
- Eliminating Anti-social Forces:We will firmly confront any anti-social forces or groups that threaten the order and safety of society.
- Releasing Information and Communicating with Society:We will actively release proper corporate information at the appropriate time, striving for greater communication with society.
- Maintaining a Positive Work Environment:We will respect the character and personality of our employees, maintaining a safe and relaxed work environment.
A Message from our President
Kanesuke Hachiuma I, a rice wholesale business owner, bought a used ship and took his first step into the world of marine transport in 1878. Since then, this company has overcome a variety of challenges, including war and natural disaster, and has operated our business across the globally-connected oceans.
Today, our headquarters are located in Kobe, with a wide range of employees concentrated in Japan, the Philippines, India, China, and other counties, both on land and at sea. We continue to expand our business, focusing on international marine cargo transport with our wood chip carriers and fleet management of vessels owned by private owners.
Rapid changes in the overseas marine transport business environment are expected, including further globalization, technological innovations, and changes related to environmental problems. Despite this, I want to move forward towards further development and fulfill the expectations (leading to stronger trust) from our stake holders through awareness of the societal role of overseas marine transport and through offering a high-quality, safe product based on real locations and products.
